    Ceiling Fan Light Kit Optional?
We just bought a Harbor Breeze Tiempo ceiling fan but we don't want to use the light fixture. Does anyone know if you can get a cap for the light fixture?
Also, can this take a remote? There's a switch on the side for change of direction.
    Thanks.

    Leslie,

Please look in the packing that came with the fan. There should be a cap inside there for owner's that choose to not use the light package. If not, cot the manufacturer of the fan and ask for a blank cap to cover the light stemn.

You can remove the light kit and there should be wire nuts that the light kit wires go to in a bundle of other wires. You can remove the light wires from the bundle and put the wire nuts back on the remaining wires. I would label the wire bundles just in case you want to put the light kit back in some time. As for the remote I am sure there are some that will work there are several on the market you will need to consult your hardware dealer for fitment.

    Leslie,

Please ignore the preceding response. The light package is packed separate from the fan assembly. What you are looking for is a cap to place over the location where the light kit attaches to the fan lower housing. If you can't find a cover in the box, call the manufacturer of the fan and see if they have one. If they do not, visit some of the fan shops around town and hardware and see if anyone carries what you need in the color that you want.

You should not touch the wiring on the light package if it is not already installed into the fan base.

The fan should have included a cap to install in place of the light fixture, if not, contact the manufacturer.

The fan is remote compatible but I wouldn't recommend it.
