I have a calablanca intellitouch fan/light. When I turned on the power (from the breaker box) I heard pop noise and when I went to look, observed smoke, so I turned the breaker off. On closer observation, I noted that the center light bulb (of a 5 bulb light) was fried (black). I removed that bulb, installed another, and turned power on while watching what happened (I had also removed all other bulbs except center one). When powered on the bulb flickered crackled and then died, was black like the other bulb. I then tried a bulb in one of the perimeter fixtures. Turned power on and all was well.

Seems something is wrong with the center bulb receptical, or electronics controlling power going to center receptical. Has anyone had a similar problem or know of other things to test. Seems that center receptical is getting more voltage or amps than the what the 60w bulb can handle. They burn in the glass stem part of the bulb, not a failure of the filaments themselves.

Okay, several things could have happened here.

Voltage surge being most likely, loss of Neutral to a multi-wire circuit which would drop 240 VAC across the circuit and fry everything in the circuit.

You need to get a multi-meter and take an accurate voltage reading either across the lamp socket inside shell and the small pin at the bottom of the socket or pull the light kit and measure the input voltage to the fixture.

Guessing what the value of the voltage is cannot help us figure out what is wrong.

Center connection of socket may have made contact with outer shell. I would unplug and look inside bulb socket, may need to be repaired or replaced.
