    An open neutral gives your system no reference for 120v loads. So any 120v loads will be seeing voltages up and down from 0 to 240v depending on how balanced the load is.
    240v loads will still see the correct 240v.

    An open neutral is NOT a good thing. Why do you ask this?

    I take it your tester showed reverse polarity, and you found an open neutral?

    Once you have the open neutral corrected/connected, tester will show OK.
