    4 wire 50 amp outlet
    Can a 4 wire 50 amp outlet be used to wire a 3 wire 50 amp stove. The outlet is for a dryer. Please advise.

    The way I see it is 2 hots and a Neutral, cap the ground. Your Neutral should be bonded to the stove frame. However, I believe you could use the 2 hots, 1 neutral, unbonded from the frame, and then put a ground on the frame bonding spot. I hooked up a 3 wire feed to a 4 wire dryer. It stated that the neutral should be bonded to the frame. So in essence, you are just doing the reverse.

    If the Outlet has the right angle blade as opposed to the straight blade prong, then it is 30 Amp Receptacle, and should not be on a 50 Amp Breaker. New and remodel require 4 wire Plug/Receptacle. You can stay with the 3 wire setup, On 50 Amps, would need to be Number 6's for Hots, 8 for Neutral, and #10 for Ground.
    I would Get a 4 Wire Range cord and Receptacle, and separate the Neutral/Ground Strap at the Range Connections. This way Range is Grounded and won't carry any current. Good Luck

    Correction, I would get a 4 Wire Dryer Cord and Receptacle, and have on a 30 Amp Breaker.
