    3 speed paddle fan switch
I have a paddle fan that the chain has broken off in the on position. I bought a replacement switch and wired it the same way the old one was. L was black 1 was red 3 was yellow and 2 is another color possibly off white. After putting the power back on The fan does not turn off and it does not go through the various speeds although it does get slightly slower on one setting. Is the switch bad or is there a capacitor problem?
