What kind of breed/mix is this puppy?
I found this puppy in a box outside and decided to take her in. I've been watching her grow and trying to figure out what mix she is. I asked the vet and he just said, "oh she's probably a variety" and changed the subject. She is 10-12 weeks old, according to the vet's guess, and about 20 lbs. The picture doesn't show her body very well but she is very stocky and muscular - built like a tank. Her tail is pretty normal looking for a short-haired dog like her, not fluffy or curly.

    I agree. Lab/Shepherd/Pitbull!

She is absolutely adorable whatever she is! Just look at that gentle face! That is so very kind of you to take her in. Now she can have a good home. I just don't understand people that throw dogs away like garbage. She's lucky to have you! :)

That is funny! I was just looking again too, and I was just going to write maybe some boxer and Lab mix! I guess we were on the same wave length! ;)

I think we all agree on the Yellow Lab part though.

Hmmm. I seem to have a different view on the breed, I will try to put in a pic of another dog that is a Rottweiler and St. Bernard cross at my local shelter. I think she looks a lot like that, but a little lighter. (this I think is also a newer "designer" breed). Anyway, Way to go on rescuing this little baby!! And congrats on the new addition!

I am definitely thinking Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. I can't see the body - but that cute face reminds me of the breed.

Thanks everyone, I think those are good guesses and I could see her being any of those. I guess I may never know for sure but I don't mind because she's really an amazing pup and I think she'll turn into a great dog - she's already protective over me, very alert, intelligent, and has good drives (ball, food, prey). Luckily I have experience with high-drive dogs and know how to channel their energy.

And yeah starbuck8, I don't understand it either but I'm just glad that she's with me now. :)

Just for your info. I heard on the news some months back that they now have a blood test to check the genetic makeup of your dog. It can determine with 100% accuracy what kind of dog you have. Ask yourvet about it

I definitely see German shephard and lab also a tiny bit of pit bull, it's the ears and the forehead that makes me say that.

No matter what she is, she's beautiful and looks very healthy and happy.

Congrats on your new addition and bless you for taking in this puppy. :)

I agree with the others. Shepard/pit mix for sure. Maybe lab. It also depends on how old it is. The size could indicate another more obscure breed.

OK, I'm not saying this is in fact the answer, but I work at the local paper and we get photos of puppies all the time. I got one today that reminded me of this post. Looked EXACTLY the same. I mean same angle and everything of the dog and they were pitbull boxer mix puppies. Adorable!!
