You should try and see if you can get ahold of a doctor, maybe a nurse hotline and get some answers I pray its not parvo or anything. My brand new puppy last year unfortunately got parvo somehow and died about a week later after I got him. So please call and see.

What can I do for my dog she won't eat or drink water and is looking very weak?
I've had her for eleven years now, she's a long haired chihauwa and she has a fowl order coming from both her ears and mouth. She threw up very little since she hasn't eaten for the past 2 days. Usually she's very active and perky but she's never been like this nor has she ever gotten sick or anything. The last time I took her to the vet he told me she was very healthy for her age, which was about six months ago for a routine check up.Any information will be gladly appreciated. Thank you.

Is it still possible for her to get parvo even if she doesn't come in contact at all with other dogs? The reason why i ask is because she's a house dog and only goes out to do her business and i'm there watching her. Thanks so much for your answer i'm waiting for a vet to call me back. I hope it's soon.

She's at an age where she can have years left but also might be nearing the end, and you have tough decisions to make.
Her ears are infected, either with yeast or bacteria, and only a culture at the vet will tell. You can wash them gently and swab a little, and rinse well, for now.
Her breath is from her stomach not digesting. You can either have the vet run expensive tests to try to prolong her life, or hug and hold her, and the vet will give you some pills to comfort her, and then you bring her back sometime later to be put down.

Put a tiny bit of milk and egg yolk in a water bowl and hold it and hold her to see if she drinks.
    Can she pee and poop?

I would skip the milk as most dogs can't digest dairy, the eggs too have to be parboiled, so I would also skip that. You might want to try and bland diet of boiled rice and hamburger or chicken. Only offer small amounts and make sure to put water in with it. Even if she is not drinking the water in the food will keep her hydrated. If she won't eat, don't force feed her, but make sure she stays hydrated. You may want to purchase a small bottle of Pedialite from your drug store and offer small amounts through a syringe.

I do agree that her ears sound like they might be infected, this can cause them to lose their appitite, so another trip to the vet should be on your agenda. It might be something as simple as in grown hairs in her ears, a lot of longer haired dogs such as yours need to have the ear hair plucked.

Until you get to the vet you can try making a solution of warm water and epsom salts and gently wash her ears out with a soft cloth. Make sure you dry them well to stop the spreading of bacteria.

Your dog is 11, I don't think it's parvo. Parvo usually only affect puppies. Did you have her vaccinated when she was a puppy? According to your other thread and with this new information I would really suggest getting her to a vet ASAP.

Parvo can be contracted anywhere, you could have came in contact with it and brought it home on your shoes. Ducks and birds are also known to transport this disease. I really don't think it is parvo, but I do think you need to get her to a vet asap.

Raw egg yolks without whites are no problem for dogs, and the milk is just a few drops to mix in. It might be something a dog can swallow when they can't swallow whole food.

Raw eggs can effect a dogs white blood cell count, not a bright idea to mess with when the dog is already sick. In normal circumstances I would suggest an egg a week would be no problem, but as you can read, the dog is sick. Also raw egg whites contain a protein called avidin, which can deplete your dog of biotin, one of the B vitamins.

Since most dogs do not continue to drink milk as they age they develop an intolerance to it, which can cause diareah, do you think that would be productive for an already sick dog Joy? Why take the risk?

What did the Vet say about her teeth? Our pets need dental care just as we do, tarter can build up and cause a multitude of problems. Can you tell where the blood is coming from, check her gums and teeth if she has a build-up of gunk and her gums are red and bleeding then it is time to call your Vet to inquire about getting her teeth cleaned. Sounds silly to some to have their teeth cleaned, but the bacteria from a dogs infected mouth can cause heart problems as well. And you said there was a foul odor from ears and mouth.
I think you should give your Vet a call.

I was instructed by the Vet to use warm applications on her belly area and she took a nap soon after I did that and when she woke up she peed normally and drank about 4 oz. of water nonstop I let her be as the Vet told me to let her take in as much as she can and wanted. I'm scheduled to take her in at 2p.m. today that's the soonest he was able to book her in such short notice and he thinks the bleeding coming from her mouth can be something intestinal so he wants to run some tests on her and see if she might have an obstruction in her intestines but he doesn't want to say that's exactly what's causing her to bleed, her teeth aren't too bad I brush her teeth at least twice a week or whenever she lets me do it but she's pretty good with allowing me to do it.But for the most part her guns don't look swollen or any visible redness or irritations that I can see. And the order coming from her ears the Vet suggested that I warm up water with a little bit of hydrogen Peroxide and swab her ears out as much as I can without causing her pain or discomfort and I did and I couldn't believe as I was doing it how bad the order got,the more I got this gunk out the stronger the order got,it's really bad, most likely she's got a really bad infection and I guess that's what's causing her to have a foul order in her mouth as well.Another new symptom she has that I forgot to mention was the vertigo which I'm sure is caused by the ear infection. When she walks she tends to walk to one side and it looks as if she's going to tip over. She hasn't passed stool since yesterday yet but then again she hasn't eaten much, the Vet told me to give her white rice and ground beef or turkey and as one of you mentioned, not to force feed her and just see if she'll try and eat a bit. I really do appreciate all the answers, you are all very helpful I'm just hoping it's nothing serious or anything. I'll keep you all posted on her status. And once again thank you all for your helpful advice and feedback I really do appreciate it.

Won't eat or drink also means that she wants NOTHING in her mouth... why? Maybe her teeth/tooth really hurts. Happens with cavities. And an 11 year old Chihuahua with stinky breath and ears is tyopical of one that has had little to no dental care in it's life.

Take her to the vet. Dental problems can be alleviated, if not totally corrected with cleaning and extracting. Another major problem with infected gums is a systemic bacterial infection that can easily involve the heart and or kidneys.

I specifically said yolks. Nothing about whites. Please show me evidence that raw yolks affect the white blood cell count or are otherwise bad. Water can be mixed instead of a drop of milk, but I just wanted something the poor dog can swallow.

Joy, the dog is sick... It's an iffy food... why take the risk? And the vet already told her to stick to the bland diet... why argue this?

Paleo, did you read what the Op has wrote? She says she routinely brushes her dogs teeth and the vet said it sounds like an ear infection... she knows the vet said this BECAUSE she made an appointment... she was taking the dog in earlier this day.

No, I 'fess up - - didn't read the OP's response. As to the egg yolk, that would be as good a food as I can imagine with a possible obstruction... yolk is about 100% digestible... no "residue", and highest quality proteins. I also would be really interested in finding out why the warmth on her belly made her feel so much better?

You should go back and read... the OP talked to the vet and the vet recopmended the bland diet as opposed to the yolk. And I am pretty sure Jooy DIDN'T say yolk in the beginning, but I am not going to argue this any further.

Not only did I say yolk, but also there were two threads merged without notice, and my response was to a much less dire one than appeared later.
I'm sad and distressed that I'm being dumped on about YOLKS when there is no evidence that says there is anything wrong with them.
