    Puppy will not eat and is weak
    June 8, 08

    Hi to everybody.

    I am new to this forum after searching for help on my puppy not eating.

    My puppy had diarrhea and did not eat and I gave her deworm medicine and he excreted many worms that day in her feces. After this, she still will not eat at all except to drink some fresh milk mixed with sugar. The diarrhea is mostly gone now. This is the second day after her deworming. Please help if anybody has any idea. Thank you all very much.

    Hi Sheine... Welcome!

    How old is your pup? Has she been checked for parvo? Not just vaccinated, but had tests done, to make sure this isn't the problem. Parvo is deadly, and I would hate for that to go unnoticed. I have seen too many people on this site that are devastated because they have lost their new pup because of this virus. Where did you get your pup? Was it from a "reputable" shelter or breeder?

    I don't understand why you are putting sugar into her milk. Pups should neither be fed milk or sugar. The milk gives them diarrhea, and the sugar can only add to the problem. Please don't give her anymore of this. Try giving her "boiled" meat. (no spices) Chicken (boneless) or Liver is best.

    If she doesn't eat or drink within the next day, an emerg vet visit is necessary to make sure she doesn't have any other illnesses, and that she is getting the nourishment she needs to be a healthy girl!

    Starbuck I agree with you... the best thing to do is to go to a vet... so your puppy'll be okay... I wanted to say another thing... if your puppy is sad... maybe you should just be with her... play... and maybe it'll be better...
