Is my puppy sleeping too much?
We just got a 7 week old chesapeake bay ret. We brought him home 2 days ago. He is sleeping a lot. He will get up and play for about 30min.-1hour and then sleep for 2 hours. I take him out to walk him and he takes a couple steps and then lays in the grass. Do you think this is normal?

Puppies are like babies... they will easily get tired but as babies get older they have more energy.same w/ puppies. You might want to be careful if this continuies. If this does still go on later ask a vet or check the food you r feeding it. I think its fine

Crew, as cutos points out, this is normal. I would suggest, in the meantime, to find information on Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and read up on them. Start looking at training guides as well. At the top of this forum, labman has a suggested reading list that is filled with some wonderful books.

You also should be finding a vet in your area. Call and make an appointment. Young puppies need a series of shots, at set intervals, to aid in protecting them from parvo virus. It is very important to the health of your dog. Here is some info that you should read: Canine Parvovirus, What you should know about

Speak to your vet about any other concerns or questions you may have.
