    Puppy poop
Does your dog or puppy's poop turn green (dark green) when they have eaten grass?

Mine has eaten a lot of grass in the garden the last 2 days, and today her brown poop was half green. :D

I don't remember noticing it, and with all the cleaning up I do out in public I have frequent chances to notice it. What I remember seeing is gobs of undigested grass mixed in. Maybe your dog chews its grass better than my Labs. Could be specific to the grass it is eating or what else you are feeding. I wouldn't worry, at the most, mention it at your next vet visit.

I have had dogs all of my life and the answer is yes. They eat grass when they have stomach problems-- like a person would take a tums or pepto bismal. As long as there are not poisons on the grass it will not hurt them and the chlorophyll in the grass will turn the poop green. It is not OK for dogs to eat all plants though-- while grass is OK, many other plants can be poisonous to dogs. If the dogs acts sick, take it to the vet. The dog will often vomit the grass as well, this is normal, part of him trying to fix his tummy ache.

I doubt you have much to worry about. No dog ever told anybody they were eating grass because their stomach was bothering them. I think there is evidence for both that in some cases they do, and in many cases they eat it because they want to. It is possible they don't realize grass makes them throw up or they don't care. Since this keeps coming up, I am not going to repeat what I have said before in https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/p...-94783.html

I poked around the AVMA site and didn't find anything on dogs eating grass. I trust them much more than sites I know little about. I did find this from a link from Wood Working Tools, Wood Working Supply, Wood Working Equipment - Woodhaven
Grass Eating I would give it a little more credibility than something I Googled up.

My husbands mother has a 6 month old chiuaua that loves to eat grass dryed up grass clippings or green grass. I have only seen grass in her poopy 1 time and she has nevered vomited after she has eaten it. So I don't think you should worry over this so much however you will be doing your puppy a favor if you go to ASPCA.org and look at the foods and plants that can kill your puppy, also as labman mention in an earlier post Raisins are deadly to dogs but not listed and to a small dog or puppy there would not be much time. :)

Raisins are deadly to dogs? Wow I never knew that. Do you know why? They are just dried up grapes aren't they? Why would they kill a dog...

Thanks labman too, and yes she seems to enjoy eating fresh grass and dead dried grass. I don't find grass in her poop so she must be digesting it properly, but it turns it a green color. I won't worry about her doing it for stomach ache reasons, she isn't sick or anything at the moment, so I think she just likes the taste of grass.

    I will research dangerous plants.

Grapes will kill too. It is the mold on the skin, or toxins from it.
