    Miniature Daschund
Our miniature daschund went out to potty today but when she came back into the house she suddenly couldn't use her back legs. She was trying desperatly to move toward my husband but couldn't. Then suddenly she began shaking. My husband began getting ready to take her to the vet and 5 minutes later it stopped and she acted as if nothing ever happened. We aren't sure what is going on. Any ideas? I know she (as I'm sure all daschund's) has a really bad tendency of trying to find things to chew on and eat them. I was wondering if maybe she had gotten something and swallowed it, but if so I can't find any reminents anywhere. It really scared us.

You had the right idea in the first place, get your little lady to the Vet ASAP. I have never heard of daschunds having a tendency to find things to chew on. You haven't said how old the girl is ? That maybe will help us define, but not diagnose. I would say again, just take her to the vet and be safe.

Oh, yes... she tends to chew on any and everything! Everything I've read says they do that... :( She will be 1 year next month, she hasn't really had any troubles so this is a first. We took her to the vet about 2 months ago and they said she is very healthy. However, lately she does appear to be growing longer.

Dachshunds have lots of back problems.
Don't be surprised if it's a fractured disk or something.
    Vet ASAP!
In the meantime watch her carefully and if it happens again write down the time and everything so you can show the vet.
