    Inexpensive ear cleaner for dog?
    Can I use peroxide or something like that in my golden retriever's ears? She is always scratching her ears and shaking her head. (ear infections?) and it's so expensive to keep going to the vet for ear cleaners and medicines.

    Also, she is continually getting a bacterial-type yeast infection between her toes, her ears, and then her privates. I think she spreads it with her chewing and biting there. The hair in these areas has turned kind of a rusty-red if that helps. Been to the vet several times for this and the expensive shampoos and meds don't seem to help at all. Has anyone else seen anything like it? Are there home remedies I could try?

    My dog has ear issues too, so I know where you are coming from. I just suck it up and pay the price for the vet's stuff; I don't want to risk doing damage to my dog to save a few bucks, you know? Can you see if the vet will give you a written prescription to have filled elsewhere for less money? I've managed to ward off infections for a while with my dog by making it a point to clean her ears as soon as I notice them bugging her or getting really dirty. Your dog might be different, but so far this has worked for me.

    Good luck, I know how frustrating itchy dogs can be!

    You can use water with a little vinegar in it to clean ears. If there is excessive amounts of wax on the outer ear, I will start with a cotton ball. When I have cleaned up the worst of it, I switch to a Q-tip gently working deep into he ear. I guess you could try the cotton balls and vinegar water on some of the other areas too.

    I have debated using peroxide, but with the noise it makes in my ears, I am not sure how a dog would react.
