    How to stop your dog from digging holes?
    I've adopted a dog a few months ago, he started digging holes like crazy, now my backyard is like a dirt yard :S.

    We couldn't get gardening people to fix it, because it was getting cold, it was raining all the time, and now it's snowing all the time. It's just not the best season to get your garden fix.

    So my dogs would come back indoor with dirt all over themselves, I'll have to clean them up every time I let them in and out of the house, and the house is REALLY dirty, because they carry dirt/dust into the house.

    The problem is temporarily solved, because it's snowing all the time, meaning the snow covers up the dirt and also my dog can't dig hole, so my house is clean (for now, thank god).

    But I'm pretty positive that once spring comes along, and the snow melt, he's going to start digging. So I really want to stop him from digging, Is there a good way to train him to restrain from digging in the backyard?

    No, not as far as I know. I have been answering questions on this site and others for almost 8 years. I can't begin to say how many times I have seen this question. I can say how many times I have seen something I thought might work, or somebody posted back that something did indeed work, zero, zilch, nada.

    My instructions for the puppy that I just raised for an assistance dog school said not to let them dig holes. Ah! they have a solution. Yes, supervision. Don't let the dog outside by itself. Another method I have heard is a 3 hour a day walk. That should leave the dog too tired to dig holes. And you?

    At times I have resorted to scattering straw over the mud.

    I suggest putting amonia on you're lawn. One sniff of that and he'll never dig again

    My Rottie used to dig graves not holes in my yard,I would fill the holes in and put lava rock over the hole she would just start a new grave.She dug until the day she died.My Beagle started doing the same thing,but she was after moles.I got rid of the moles and she stopped digging holes.
