How do I stop my dog from peeing and pooping on the carpet?
Our 15 month old dog (Maltese / Yorkie mix) is pad-trained and has been gated to an area in the downstairs of our house. Prior to the last week, she was 100% at either using her pad or going outside. She recently started jumping the gate, and we decided to take it down so she would not get stuck on the other side. Now, when she comes upstairs, she is often pooping or peeing on the carpet. Any suggestions?

I am not a fan of pee pads, it tells the dogs it OK to pee inside. She is old enough to be trained to only pee/poo outside. Crate her and take her outside for a awlk 40minutes after eating. Only put food down twice a dog and walk for 30-60 minutes after each meal. Do not scold if there is an accident but praise and treats for doing it outside, lots of excitement too.

My dog has started pooping and peeing in our new house. How can I get her to stop? [ 2 Answers ]

My dog is 12/13 and never had a problem in our apartment, but now when we are in a townhouse, she does have problems. I assume it's confusion and separation anxiety, but how can I get her to stop this behavior? She even pees sometimes when I am upstairs and she is downstairs!
