    Housebreaking 1yr old black lab
We just got a black lab yesterday she was rescued from the humane society. I took her outside 3 times last night for walks, she seemed uninterested in peeing outside. Then last night she peed in my room. I assumed it was because she drank a lot and couldn't get out. Then this morning she peed in the living room, I promptly put her rout side mid-stream, put she wouldn't go. Then I took her for a long walk hoping that she would pee outside and she didn't, but right when we got inside she went into the dinning room and started peeing. I don't know what to do!

Read through the sticky starting at https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/i...tml#post251802

The last paragraph in the section of housebreaking discusses some of the adjustments you must make with an older dog. At first, you may need to walk, walk, walk until she can't hold it any longer. Just don't let her catch on that eliminating ends the walk. Go a little further afterwards.

    Hi,

I'm not the biggest expert on this because my dog is having the problem about housebreak and my dogs 10! But I've been told this: Watch your pup closely, if you see it starting to squat stop it and take it outside. It may feel uncomfortable going to the bathroom when someone is watching it so what I did was: I have a clothes line that is not too far away from my house. So I took to long leads/leashes and hooked it on to the line so when she has to go or is standing at the door I take her out clip her on and she mosey's on out. Now the dog should eventually go to the door and stand there. So keep an eye on the pup. What I also did is I built a kennel thing with a fence and some room to run in the fence. But again I am not the greatest expert on housebreaking.
