    Greyhound Whining
MY 10yr old female greyhound has started to whine and howl all of the time and I don't know why. She is not in season, and the only changes around her have been the weather. She has been off her food slightly, but weather can cause that, therefore if anyone has any suggestions regarding what it could be, that would be most helpful. I'm worried about her due to her age, and fear the worse will happen :-(

My walker hound cannot handle storms and we always know one is coming because she becomes very upset and whines. Does your dog actually whine 'all the time' or only when you first hear a storm and thunder happening ? I don't think her whining heralds what you are thinking of.

It's been warmer weather as opposed to storms, but mine doesn't like storms either so I know where you are coming from with that sort of whine.

This is sort of whine and howling as though she can't settle and it's not continuous but has become quite regular. Even when you pet her she still whines. I don't know if she's got a stomach upset but other than sometimes not having a large appetite in the morning as she used to, she seems OK i.e eats and then goes out and does her business etc. She's just so unsettled at the moment, and I don't know how to helpp :-(

How long has this been going on? It could be a sign of pain, and there is that spectre in the greyhound closet (osteosarcoma) to be concerned about. And with an unspayed 10-year-old female, there are some other health concerns I would be pursuing. So, I'd be scheduling a vet visit, just to rule out anything physical.
