    Early Riser
My 7 mo old puppy wakes up at 5:30 AM to go potty every morning, I let him out of his crate to go but the problem is he is now ready to play. I want to go back to sleep and so does the rest of the family. He starts winning and barking until someone gets up and stays with him. What do I do to keep him calm/quite, until I am ready to start my day?

Well have you taught the puppy inadvertently that if he barks, cries and whines he gets out? I know it is tough, but sticking it out for a few nights will stop this. Of course they will feel like eons, but the more work you put into puppy the less you have to do later in life. Hopefully, lol.
I rescue dogs and doggy sit a lot. Anytime I have a new dog that hasn't stayed at my house before and is crated gets put next to my bed. I know some will not agree with this... but I am able to train and sleep better in this location.
After you take puppy out place him back into crate. If he cries softly pop the top of the crate and say quiet. This is using a sound aversion technique. You may have to do this a few times, but you won't have to get up out of bed several times and excite the puppy by approaching the crate.
    Hope this helps!

Hi all. We had a toilet leak in our upstairs bathroom. We've had a couple of plumbers out over the past couple of years to deal with the problem, but their work didn't fix the problem. As a result, our linoleum discolored and the floor got weak. We spent the day yesterday pulling up the...
