My dog stop eating his dog food or drink but he will eat table food
Last week we took a long road trip and took our dog with us. On the trip he eat his food with no problems but we did give him table food at times. Now he will not eat his food unless it's mixed with table food and he will no drink from his water bowl. Can you help? Should I take him to the vet?

You should stop feeding him table food completely. He might skip a meal or two in protest, but will begin eating when he is hungry. Now, is he getting water from somewhere else? You mentioned he will not drink from his bowl.

I agree with Teachnk, if you keep feeding him table scraps, why would he want to eat his normal dog food? They won't starve themselves, but if he hasn't eaten for an extended period, a vet visit should definitely be in order.
It could also be from the stress of the long raod trip. He may just not be feeling himself from all the driving. A lot of dogs actually suffer from motion sickness.

Are you mixing water in with his food? Or table scraps?
IF you are concerned about him not getting enough water then you can try adding water to his hard dog food. I wouldn't recommend doing it all the time, but just to get him back on track again.

I don't think so. I've been watching him when I let him out and he just sit on the back porch in the sun. I tried holding his food bowl in my hand and putting it in a different spot on the floor and he ate. He took food out of the bowl and drop it on the floor and ate from the floor. It almost like all of a sudden there is something wrong with his food bowl. I put some water in a different bowl tonight, he drank with no problem. I think I'm going to change up his food dishes. I just think it's very strange he has decided that he no longer likes his dish.

That sounds like a good idea. I didn't think about the stress.

Also have yo been washing his dishes with dish soap? If you don't rinse them EXTREMELY well your dog will taste the dish soap. Just think about their keen sense of smell. I would never put dishes in the dish washer, and if you can use the smallest bit of spoap possible, and rinse, rinse, rinse!
