4 month old puppy not eating much
Our puppy is a 4 month old Rottweiler/Lab mix. She does not seem to like eating that much and sleeps a lot. Seems lethargic last couple of days and has had diarrhea. Should this be a concern? She has a vet appt. next week.

How much are you feeding her? 2-3 cups a day of a concentrated puppy chow should be plenty. She should be losing her puppy fat and have a waist by by now. Ask the vet. For a good guide to how much to feed her all her life, see http://www.purina.com/dogs/nutrition.asp?article=292.

I don't like the lethargic. I hope the appointment is early in the week.

We've been feeding her *Eukanuba* brand dry food. On the back of their package they have a chart that suggests for her weight (25-30lbs) to feed her 4-2/3 cups a day. Maybe that's too much? They might just be trying to sell more food :) . Her appt. is Wed.

    Thanks

I had fed my 2 Shelties Eukanuba for 16 yrs and it is a concentrated dog food so you feed less-maybe the instructions on the bag were printed wrong. The amount I fed was 2 1/2 cups a day for both my dogs. The poor puppy is probably getting way too much food which in the concentrated form would give any dog/puppy diarrhea and a nasty belly ache to boot. Check the Eukanuba web site or go to the store and see if all the bags say to feed that much.

You need to take her asap to the vet.. cause she can have porvo and she can die. I just hope that she is not doing diarrhea with blood..
