    Changing Locks on House
My boyfriend and I of two and a half years broke up about a month ago. We both bought a house together and he moved out of it upon breaking up with me. I can't get him to come here to talk to see what we are going to do with everything as both of our names are on the house, truck, bills, etc. I went out with my girlfriends for a couple of hours over the weekend and came home to find that he managed to get someone to changed the locks on the house. Is he allowed to do this? Also he changed the locks on the garage about two weeks ago and he refused to give me a key to the garage. Just need to find out what my rights are regarding all of this.

He can't lock you out of what is also your house.

Get an Attorney - nobody wants to hear that but that is what you need to do. This is nothing you can handle yourself.

If he locked you out in most jurisdictions - if that is your residence - the Police will allow you back in but it sounds like your boyfriend will then lock you out again.

As long as your name is on the deed and there is no court order keeping you out, you may enter your own house, they can not stop you,

    1. normally call police who will watch you get in,
    2. get a locksmith to get you in
    3. figure a way to enter your home.
