    No signal, no beeps
While my son was playing an online game, the monitor went blank and the "no signal" message came up. I checked the cable and monitor - both good. On start up, the computer does not beep. Any ideas?

Turn the computer off, wait about five minutes.

When you turn it back on, watch the cooling fan to see if it starts, or starts briefly and then stops.

If this happens, you will more than likely need a new power supply, at least.

With a no signal it would be one of two things, the monitor itself or the video card

If you have access to another monitor, plug that it in to see if it works, if it does it is the monitor that went bad

If another known working monitor has same problem, it would more than likely be the video card

To see if video card, you would need to get another known working video card and replace the one in the system now and try you r original monitor to see if that is the issue

If same thing again, try another mointor on the new video card

If both instances do not work, it would be the system board - but you are really looking at the monitor or the vdeo card it is attached to

Post back if any above do not work and if you have an onboard video adapter, try to get another video card and plug it into one of the pci slots if avail

Basicall, testing one of the 2 for problems, video card or monitor
