Should my dentist have ground down my crown?
I got a new crown on Saturday, but the dentist ground the surface to make it fit. It feels rough, but the sides feel really smooth.

Hi gortin, he has to adjust the bite, or the occlusion of the teeth, occlusion meaning the way the upper and lower teeth relate to each other. It is really adjusting your bite so you won't have any problems that can impact on the rest of your teeth when you eat. When you run your tongue over your teeth, bumps and low areas are magnified, feeling huge, but in essence these aren't as bad as they feel. You can either tell you dentist to smooth the surface, or wait until it smooths naturally.

This is a 2 minute job for a dentist, If it bothers you too much just nip down to the dentists and get them to polish it for you :)

Cerec crown length dentist [ 1 Answers ]

My dentist tells me that I need a crown. The tooth is worn down (due to grinding I think) and there is not much for the crown to hold onto. She proposes crown lengthening, removing some of the bone etc. I wonder if an onlay might be an alternative. The issue must be whether there is enough for...

While having work done the dentist broke an existing crown. [ 6 Answers ]

I just recently had a crown put on a front tooth right next to an existing crown. The new one was out a little farther the old one which made my teeth come together uneven. Since the Doctor could not add to the new one to make my bite more comfortable I suggested the doctor remove some from the old...
