Ok this is the story.I chipped my front tooth when I was young(about 6) and it has been fixed twice since then(a few years ago the little extra piece of "fake tooth" fell off while eating a sandwich so now not only have I swallowed the crumbled part of my real tooth when it broke,I also ate the fake one,lol!).I've been noticing over the past few months that again the material with which it's glued on to the tooth is fading.I've been to the dentist a few months ago and asked him to replace it for me but he claimed it was still holding firm in place and there was no need for it(now I kind of wish I had pushed him more on that).I'm currently away from my home town and I'm returning this Monday and I've already an appointment with the dentist for Tuesday morning... but I'm scared the tooth is going to fall out during the weekend and I've got some fun things planned since it's my last weekend here.So my question is how weird would it be if it happened and I just kind of ignored it and went along my business?Or should I just stay at home and avoid any human contact in case it happens?I know it's a what if question but I'm freaking out!

This happened to me too. When I was a kid I stupidly threw myself head first down a slippery slide, got some major air but ended up smashing my face into the bottom and chipping my front tooth. I got it capped and it held good for years. Then a few months ago it came off when I took a bite of, funny enough, a sandwich lol.
To be honest I was just as freaked out as you were, but surprisingly, no one even noticed it. It took my girlfriend (Who I live in the same house with) almost a week to notice it. But yeah it does feel weird walking around with it, and I found myself constantly turning to the side and mumbling to try and hide it. I suppose in the end it wasn't too bad, but at the time it drove me crazy lol. After all it is kind of embarrassing.

Hope everything works out for you though, but don't hide out in your room, go out and have fun, if it happens it happens. Nothing you can do about it lol

Thanks... mine happened when me and my brother were running down the library hallway and he decided to trip me because I was winning... long story short: marble floor 1-tooth 0!

Thanks for your story,I feel a bit better now,even though if it happens I'll probably be freaked out of my mind,but I'll try to just act like nothing's wrong,maybe people won't notice with me either(or if they do they'll be kind enough to act like they don't ;))

When I was about 8 or 9, I banged my mouth against a schoolyard monkey bars and chipped a small, circular piece from my front tooth. I lived with that chip for over 40 years until my dentist filed it down while doing other work. Never bothered me.

Fillings are usually in 2 states, they are either in, or they are out.. If they are in (even though chipped) it should hold there unless something causes it to separate completely. Just push him some more, tell him it feels weird and looks ugly, esthetics and comfort are important things to have :)
