Chipped wisdom tooth: need temporary quick fix
Before you read further, let it be known that I've already booked an appointment with a dentist and will visit him in early March. I'm currently on holiday in another country and won't return until a week later.

Problem I'm having right now is that my wisdom tooth has very deep cavity. Just a moment ago, it got chipped on my tongue side from eating dinner (no clue what food caused it... possibly a bone?) and now it's uncomfortable to have it scraping against my tongue.

For you dentists and dental students out there, what is a quick fix solution to prevent this discomfort? I'm personally thinking of getting some dental wax from calling one of my relative's family dentists. Mind you, I will be participating in competitive sports training in the next few days so whatever solution you suggest has to stay in place for at least 24 hours.

This tooth will definitely be pulled out in March. I just need something that works for now.

(Sorry, newbie here and I don't know how to edit my own post)

    Got another question to add:
Is there anything I should be wary of when brushing my teeth or eating?

Keep it clean. Anbesol works for the pain. Dental wax works for the cavity.

Any hard foods can likely split the tooth.

If it's just a sharp edge that is bothering you and no tooth pain, you could take a new emery board (paper type nail file) and GENTLY rub it over the sharp edge. Rinse well with water when done.

Chipped tooth leads to crown possible root canal [ 1 Answers ]

I recently chipped one of my bottom back molars. The tooth had a very large filling. However, it seemed like the dentist really 'went to town' on the drilling. A week later I still had pain and got a prescription. My new crown is in with temporary cement to "see if the pain goes away," and I'm told...
