Can I get front crowns replaced on nhs if causing me distress
I had crowns fitted 26 yrs ago, and had lots of gum problems, at one point around 80% of mouth was infected suffering pain, hallitosis, etc, now my gums have receded away from teeth so it smells bad no matter what I do, it took me over a year of regular dental treatment (private) to get the gum infections donw, I've asked the dentist on several occasions if he can replace them but he says its cosmetic and they won't replace, its getting to the point that I even dream about carrying a toothbrush and mouthwash around with me I haven't had a boyfriend in many years as I know I have bad breath and don't get too close to people in case they notice it - I would die of embarrassment.

Ive heard other say you can get dental crowns if causing you distress or affecting you like this.

Can anyone offer adivce please as I am not in a position to pay privately and can even afford to go to the hygenist now

    Thanks

As crowns only normally last around 15 years they are well passed replacement.
It sounds like you need to find a second opinion here.
There are many NHS dentists available, but you WILL be expected to make a contribution to your continuing care.
Depending on your location, your local hospital may offer dental work.
