AGONY with wisdom teeth extraction-is it ever going to end?
Got 3 wisdom teeth out on march 29th. I have been to my oral surgeon 5 times since my first follow up a few days after my surgery because of increasing pain. The first time I went he said I was fine, even though I told him that I had been in complete pain, he sent be home with a syringe to irrigate me holes. Went back a day later because of extreme pain and then he said I had dry socket in my left bottom hole. (OK I TOLD HIM THIS MY FIRST FOLLOW UP AND ITS LIKE HE Didn't HEAR ME) During this follow up, I told him of pain in my other side, and he insisted that I would be OK, and continued to pack the tooth he said had dry socket. Once he packed it, the pain ceased. This was on a Thursday. I went home that day, slept for 5 hours, and woke up with EXTREME pain in my right side (the side I TOLD HIM was also causing me pain) It is 5 pm at this point and he is not in his office, and he has no emeregency number. So, frantic and in crazy pain I called my sisters oral surgeons emergency number (she had her wisdom teeth also taken out a few days before). He prescribed me vicoden to get me through the weekend until Monday morning for my next follow up with MY oral surgeon. I geuss my sister voiced concern about her teeth to him because shed been seeing me go through hell with it... so the dr new that I was not jerking him around. So, the vicoden did not last. I went through 2 prescriptions of 20 pills each, 500 mg in 3 days. It was definiatly too much, but I was only taking it when the pain was unbareable! Realizing that I was taking too much, I went to an urgent care center Sunday night, they shot me with 100 mg of Demerol, 25 mg of Viseral, prescribed me penicillen, and gave me 2 perkisets to last me until lthe morning. Not really the relief I was looking for, I want real tooth pain relief... solutions and answers, not pain meds. The next morning first thing I went to my oral surgeon, I told him the hell I have been through all weekend... he paacked both of my bottom holes and told me good luck. He also said I was setting a record for post op follow up appt's. (MAYBE IF HE HAD HELPED ME EARLY ON Like I ASKED HIM TO INSTEAD OF GIVING ME THE RUNAROUND..! ) I went home after my appt. and MY TOOTH HOLE IS STILL IN PAIN!! It shouldn't be in pain with it packed, right!? SO, I GO TO the ER. THIS PAIN IS ing unreal. SORRY, it is. OF COURSE they can't help me because they don't have oral surgeons in the ER... what the hell. They give my perkisets... which I currently have in my system. It is barely touching the pain. I have an appt tomorrow iwht a new oral surgeon. I want to hear some feedback from others. Is this normal? It doesn't seem normal. FEEDBACK PLEASE...

I am not sure what is normal, I had two pulled and was back to work the next day with just some disconfort.

Do you have a low tolerance to pain normally ?

Hang in there, No, it's not normal. I understand your pain, take 2 more pain killers than you have been and call it a night

I completely understand what you are going through. I have had 3 teeth extracted 7 days ago and my pain is killing me. My dentist said I have a infection and dry socket. Pain killers are not working haven't slept for days
