Went on my first date in 5 years.now I'm confused.
Well about 6 months ago a 5 year relationship I was in came to an end... and just the other week I met this girl and we hit it off and I told her I would take her to dinner. We initially met at a bar and we ended up making out the whole night and I even spent the night at her friends place, we didn't sleep together though. But last night I took her to dinner and a movie and I guess things seemed to be going all right.
When I dropped her off at the end of the night she said she had a lot of fun and kissed me on the lips. I said we should do this again and she agreed and said to give her a call. As I was driving home she texted me saying thank you for everything.
Now this might sound like a stupid question, but do you think she is interested in a second date? I have been out of the game for so long and I'm just not super confident about dating at this point. It's also weird that we went from making out and spending the night together to just a casual first date with a small kiss on the lips. I don't know. Do you think she wants to see me again and if so, how long should I wait before calling her and asking her on another date?

LOL, sorry this made me laugh, in a good way! As I was in the same boat, though I didn't recognize it when someone was trying to get me to ask them out. So first two girls asked me out, (yea I'm blind)
Yes! She does, she is really interested in you, especially contacting so soon after the first date.
Id have to say the Alcohol probably played a minor factor in the make out session, which is common. To me, I gather she likes attention your giving her, but likes to also go out and have a good time, like at a bar, so keep it changed up :)
2nd date, perhaps Olive Garden and out for a few drinks afterwards? :) Lounges are IMO better then bars, more relaxed settings.

Did you ask her out on the first meeting because you had spent the whole night making out?
You apparently went into the first date expecting and intimate time together considering the first date.
Maybe she needed to see why you wanted to date her.

Yeah id say she likes you.
The second date was more like a date,if you get my drift.
Take it easy, have fun, enjoy her company.

I'd say she's interested in a second date. Kissing you on the lips is a very strong sign. But the only way to find out for sure is to ask her out again.
Wait one or two days before contacting her and asking her out for a second date.
Because the first time you met, you were making out, I would suggest that you stick with non alcoholic related dates. Maybe go out for coffee, so that you two have a chance to talk and get to know each other. I would cool it on the physical stuff, until you two are more comfortable with each other.

Kissed you on the lips... I'd say she is interested even in a third and fourth date.
Keep communication open though because you could think she is falling in love with you and only be wanting something like friends with benefits or short term relationship. So make sure you each know what direction the other would like to see the relationship going before you jump into bed with her.

Well, I called her yesterday and left her a message telling her that I'd like to get together soon, possibly this weekend. She sent me a text several hours later saying she was going to try and call me today or Wednesday and that she was just not feeling good at the moment. Her text also said she would look into Saturday, concerning getting together. She ended the text with "See you soon!" Not sure what to make of this, but I would think saying "See you soon!" is a good sign, right?

I think that you are doing fine and you probably don't really need our confirmation of that. :)
See you soon, usually means 'See you soon', so it's pretty sure her intent is to get together again.
