Democracy 101 ..people in a free society have a right to know what is going on . For that purpose the press is guaranteed the freedom to report and the people are guaranteed the right to a free and open exchange of ideas. The responsible reporter should be the equivalent of the town crier and Paul Reviere all in one ;distributing the news . The net social media sites should be where the pamphleteers and the community engage in discussion and make their case in debate.

But that is not what happens today . The governments manufacture the facts we are permitted to read and hear. Take war as just one example. Remember how Vietnam was covered ? Reporters roamed the country and battlefields giving us verbal and video reports daily. Have you seen anything close to that type of reporting from the Russia -Ukraine war ? The government feeds reports to the press and they dutifully report them . We are like mushrooms kept in the dark and fed manure .
