Toxic cloud over Flint ?
Nah that would've led the news cycle all week. This is a toxic cloud hovering over flyover country after a "controlled burn" of chemicals from a derailed train caused a massive toxic cloud to spread over the town of East Palestine Ohio. One of the cars contained vinyl chloride . When burned this creates hydrogen chloride and phosgene .....one of the chemicals used in WWI gas attacks . When someone breaths it in the gas prevents oxygen from entering the bloodstream and prevents CO2 from leaving .
When hydrogen chloride mixes with water it becomes hydrochloric acid. Fish and wildlife in the area is dying .Vinyl chloride is a known carcinogen linked to liver cancer.As the cloud dissipates it will enter the water supply.   Transportation Sec. Mayor Pete was AWOL sorta . He did find the time to have a news conference where he said that there were too many white people in construction work....and joked about balloons . Trump is going to visit the town . So Clueless dispatched FEMA to assess the damage today . The derailment was February 3 . Controlled burn and release of the chemicals began February 6. It is 2 weeks later and now FEMA is going to work ? |
