But first. Chapter II
Hello again,
I've revived the thread - jobs, jobs, jobs... but first.
When the economy was tanking, Obama did health care. Now, he SAID that health care was about the economy, but the right wing didn't believe him, and threw the Democrats out. They wanted the government to focus on jobs.
The economy is STILL in the tank, and the right wing wants to restrict abortions and destroy the unions. Now, they SAY destroying the unions is about jobs, but the left wing doesn't believe them.. They want government to focus on the economy...
Are the Republicans making the same mistake the Democrats did?

No
The contracts are clearly linked to the fiscal stability of the states and local governments. Also the contracts between states and the public employees is not a Federal issue. Every State that allows their pulbic employees to bargain is coming to grips with this issue . The only difference is that the Democrat controlled unions are only demonstrating at State Capitals where Republicans are Governors . Democrat Governors are giving public employees the same options and the protests barely are at levels above cricket chirps .

Hello again, tom:
Well, I didn't expect you to agree. I guess I could counter your argument that health care reform is going to save us BILLIONS... But, you're not going to buy my argument any more than I buy yours.
So, the question ISN'T what you and I believe... It's about the politics of the nation. Certainly, health care reform has been a fav of the Democrats for YEARS... In the same vein, destroying the unions has been a long term goal of Republicans...
The question I have, is the prospect of the right wing getting close to achieving one of its major long term goals, awakened a sleeping left wing. I think it did. You hope it didn't.

I don't see anything spontaneous in the demonstrations. Most of the left wing only has skin in this game in the fact that their ever increasing tax obligation pays for a small percentage of the labor force to get a better work deal than they get.
Maybe I'm wrong and the left will make their stand on this issue. I hope they will. It's a loser.

Hello again, tom:
Not according to Gallup and USA Today. The country doesn't like union busting by a whopping 61% majority.
Let's get it on. This could be the Tea Party's waterloo...

Just took the USA today poll. Voted a dozen times . Yeah plenty of scientific results there. Think I'll link it to the Freepers and let them do their thing.
