    Rest in Peace Richard Holbrooke
.. and thank you for a life time service to America.

He served in some capacity in every Democrat administration since Kennedy. He was Nobel Peace Prize nominee seven times ,and unlike Obama ,earned it.

His resume and achievements are long and distinguished. Had Kerry or Evita won the Presidency he probably would've become Secretary of State.

He was one of the authors of the Pentagon Papers(wrote a chapter).

He was involved in the Dayton Accords that ended in the creation of the State of Bosnia ,and recently he was Obama's envoy in AfPakia.

As British Foreign Secretary William Hague said , Mr Holbrooke was "truly one of the best and the brightest of his generation" who served the US "with distinction and integrity".

He passed away yesterday during surgery to repair a torn aeorta .

    Hello tom:

We should honor his dying wish, "You've got to stop this war in Afghanistan." According to his family members, those were the last words he uttered as he was being sedated for surgery.

Wars end many ways . The best way is victory.

I do not mean this posting to be an endorsement of the policy positions he took over the years.
