    In their time 'The Band' was the back up group that toured with Dylan.Eric Clapton wanted to leave Cream and join The Band .Their best work was their own songs with drummer and lead singer Levon Helm .

    Levon Helm battled throat cancer for a number of years . For at least 2 years he lost his voice completely . But he came back and won a couple Grammy Awards when his voice recovered .

    After hearing of his passing I downloaded a bunch of The Band's stuff to my phone. Plugged my headphones into my phone the last couple of weekends while working in the yard and listened - good working music.
