    Guess who came to dinner
Word is out (or rumors ) that a big pow-wow took place at the home of George Will .
    http://news.yahoo.com/s/mcb_washingt...innerpartyhtml
Apparently dinner guests included William Kristol of The Weekly Standard, Conservative commentator David Brooks of The New York Slimes, Paul Gigot of The Wall Street Journal editorial page, Larry Kudlow of CNBC's Kudlow and Company, Rich Lowry of National Review, Michael Barone of FOX and US News & World Report, Charles Krauthammer of The Washington Compost.(also rumored at the dinner but still uncomfirmed was Rush Limbaugh edit... turns out Rush was at the Medal of Honor ceremony at the White House. ) .

The guest of honor ? President-elect Barack Obama. (I can see the steam coming out of Katrina van den Heuvel's ears already )

The reasons for the pow-wow are only speculation at this point . Look for the punsters above to write columns about it . One possible reason is that Obama wants to include some limitted demand side tax cuts in the "stimulus package " he is proposing to Capitol Hill ,and Madame Mimi is very resistant to the idea. Instead she wants to essentially raise taxes by either reversing the Bush tax cuts ;or by letting them "wither on the vine" destined to end anyway. He knows he will need to forge a coalition of Blue Dog Democrats and Republicans (and Democrats that Rhambo can get greased ) to have any chance of getting his package approved intact.

I will not pass any other judgement to this at this time . Some of the above mentioned have been part of a movement to "reform " and change the tone of conservatism and others like Lowery were no-holds barred critics of candidate Obama ;and I'm sure none of them pulled the lever for him. It is encouraging that Obama attended this gathering ,and it's the first sliver of "hope " I've had since the election that he won't lead us over a cliff.

Will see... I don't expect any at the gathering to have had an epiphany over good food ,wine and dinner chat .

Edit : another positive sign moonbat bloggers are going nuts over this

    Hello tom:

I don't know why you think Limprod would be included in that group. They're smart. He's a blowhard...

By the way, didn't the likes of him diss the North Eastern elite?? I think they did - even their own party elites, like Will... I don't think THEY forgot...

As a matter of fact, if ANY new Republican party emerges from the wreckage of the GOP, the likes of the limp one and Sarah Palin won't be seen and/or heard from again... You'll be better off for it too.

I don't call Will Northern elite as much as Washinton insider . A valid point can be made that he is more concerned with the cocktail circuit in the town .Many conservative Washington insiders are so plagued. Note David Gergen .

But I'll be happy to be part of a conservative movement led by the likes of Rich Lowry ,Michael Barone and to a lesser extent Kudlow ,Kristol and Krauthammer.
