"Going-for-the-jugular approach to politics": Putin and the Russians?
No; it's the Chosen One, "the ones we've been waiting for": "Barack Obama is striking back fiercely and swiftly to stamp out an ad that links him to a 1960s radical, eager to demonstrate a far more aggressive response to attacks than John Kerry did when faced with the 2004 "Swift Boat" campaign." Sounds like Putin in Georgia. Further, " Obama not only aired a response ad to the spot linking him to William Ayers, but he sought to block stations the commercial by warning station managers and asking the Justice Department to intervene. The campaign also planned to compel advertisers to pressure stations that continue to air the anti-Obama commercial.

"It's the type of going-for-the-jugular approach to politics many Democrats complain that Kerry lacked and that Republicans exploit." Obama seeks to silence ad tying him to 60s radical

It's too late . He should've answered this issue a long time ago. He can go after this ad but now the MSM is beginning to notice his peculiar friendships. Michael Barone at US News and World Report has an interesting article about the Ayers connection to Obama ;Chicago nepotism ,(double whammy when you consider that Michelle's father was a Daley precinct boss) ,and how Obama used them to become a Chi-town political insider .

Why Won't the Mainstream Media Question the Obama Narrative? - Michael Barone (usnews.com)

In a town that is full of political corruption and an outsider doesn't get the time of day unless that person is "sent." ("don't want nobody nobody sent" is a famous story about an encounter with the Adlai Stevenson campaign told by former Clintonoid White House counsel Abner Mikva);Obama's rise is unprecedented . William Ayers got "sent " even though he was a known terrorist because his old man had ties to Richard Daley Sr.Ayers in turn "sent " Obama ;launching his political career. That is much more than a casual acquaintance.

Obama has had more negative attacks against him than any other candidate in the history of the US. In the Democratic primaries it happened because he was formidable enough to spoil the Clinton's bid. Besides the Clinton's just don't know any other way but to constantly attack. Bill's actually a pit-bull when turned loose, just another reason the Republicans despise the Clinton's. As for the Republicans, their campaign objective is to shift the focus of the American public away from President Bush, i.e. the ongoing wars, and poor economy. McCain needs surrogate supporter types to propagate Ayers rhetoric story's in an attempt to dupe voters.

The article says it all. It is outrageous for a candidate for president of the U.S. to demand the investigation and prosecution of his political opponents. Said Obama, "'We reiterate our request that the Department of Justice fulfill its commitment to take prompt action to investigate and to prosecute the American issues Project, and we further request that the Department of Justice investigate and prosecute Howard (sic) Simmons for a knowing and willful violation of the individual aggregate contribution limits,' he wrote."

"The American Issues Project released a statement responding to the letter.
'Having failed in its attempts to get our legal, factual and fully-supported ad off the air, Barack Obama's campaign now wants to put our donors in prison for exercising their right to free speech,' said Ed Martin, the group's president. 'These over-the-top bullying tactics are reminiscent of the kind of censorship one would see in a Stalinist dictatorship, with the only difference being that those guys generally had to wait until they were in power to throw people who disagreed with them into jail.'"

I'm beginning to think McCain recruits surrogates from the hospital wing for the residential crackpots. These nut jobs from the far right originally pinned Obama for a Muslim extremist and more currently a Marxist. Now he's a running a Stalinist dictatorship. No wonder America under Dubya had more problems than solutions.

    and more currently a Marxist
Can't imagine why we would think that?!

Perhaps it's the Saul Alinsky('god-father' of the community activist radicals ) words that Michelle Obama attributed to BO as being the words they live by.

Barack stood up that day, and spoke words that have stayed with me ever since. He talked about "The world as it is" and "The world as it should be." And he said that all too often, we accept the distance between the two, and settle for the world as it is — even when it doesn't reflect our values and aspirations...

"All of us driven by a simple belief that the world as it is just won't do - that we have an obligation to fight for the world as it should be."
Text of Michelle Obama's speech at the convention - Yahoo! News

Now here is a quote from chapter 2 of Alinsky's book 'Rules for Radicals' :

"The means-and-ends moralists, constantly obsessed with the ethics of the means used by the Have-Nots against the Haves, should search themselves as to their real political position. In fact, they are passive -- but real -- allies of the Haves...The most unethical of all means is the non-use of any means... The standards of judgment must be rooted in the whys and wherefores of life as it is lived, the world as it is, not our wished-for fantasy of the world as it should be."
    "just words ....just speeches"

Alinsky's goals were radical socialism and redistribution of wealth.Alinsky taught his proteges to hide their true goals by any means necessary. Lying was fine. A successful organizer should be “an abrasive agent to rub raw the resentments of the people of the community; to fan latent hostilities of many of the people to the point of overt expressions.” Once such hostilities were “whipped up to a fighting pitch,” the organizer steered his group toward confrontation, in the form of picketing, demonstrating, and general hell-raising. At first, the organizer tackled small stuff, like demanding the repair of streetlights in a city park; later, when the group gained confidence, the organizer could take on bigger targets. Ironically, Evita wrote an undergraduate thesis on Alinsky.

Obama went to work in Chi-town with Jerry Kellman an Alinsky student .
Jerry Kellman: Obama Pulled Together A Variety of People That Others Could Not. Jerry Kellman, who was the basis for the character "Marty" in Dreams from my Father, was Obama's supervisor at the Developing Communities Project.
Barack Obama | Change We Can Believe In |

2008 Democratic National Convention: Remarks As Prepared For Delivery by Jerry Kellman, Hired & Supervised Sen. Obama At Developing Communities Project - Chicago, Illinois

At some point however ;Obama decided that community organizingwas not lucrative enough. He cited the fact that his father had been booted out of the Kenyan government and had died drunk and destitute. Obama decided to cash in and go to law school and enter politics. He also realized that in politics and law is real power . Kellman also had similar thoughts and would soon drop out of community organizing . But what is important to note is that it was in these years that Obama's political views were formed . He was introduced to Alice Palmer, as an Illinois State Senator. Palmer was the only African American to cover the 27th Congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union in 1986. Obama was later named to be her hand picked successor . He was introduced to Bill Ayers and Bernadin Dohrn and his political career began.

A similar campaign of denunciation and intimidation was launched against an effort by POW's and journalist /Vietnam vet Carlton Sherwood to air his documentary ' Stolen Honor ' in 2004 ,telling how Kerry's activities had caused POWs harm while imprisoned. This was not a Swift-Boat effort.
    Stolen Honor: Welcome

    It worked well too.

Sinclair stations and theaters were to air the documentary but they backed down after law suits were threatened.

If that's the case then Dubya must sleep with the manuscript under his pillow and later to be guarded with rocket launchers, lock and key, in the doofus future library. BTW his presidential library will be a building about the size of a construction site used porta potty.
