    Fruitless environmentalism?
Or is it just a socialist ploy.

In what could only be a fruitless act and an act of pure sabatage and bastardry, the Australian parliament today passed measures to introduce the highest price on carbon in the world. Since Australia accounts for a very small percentage of emissions this will do nothing to abate the impact of carbon emissions but will cause large scale unemployment
Carbon Tax passes Lower House - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)
This will herald the recession we had to have, right at a time when we were weathering the impacts of various world financial crises, which in good socialist policy will be followed by various excuses to stimulate the economy. Goodbye budget surplus.

I am not in favour of deliberate manipulation of the economy on a whim.

Right now we are doing okay without this nonsense.

The little red fox gave Krudd a great big kiss on the floor of the parliament when this passed. Why? Because she thinks her bacon has been saved from both his return and electoral defeat. I hate manipulators and liars and she is both.

What is AU's biggest product? Tourism? Just wondering. You could bill yourselves as the greenest country and continent in the world. Turn this into income producing fruit.

What will the tourists come to see? Our biggest export is deep green; coal, closely followed by rust; iron. We love digging holes in the ground with a big expansion in our uranium production. When Gillard is finished we will be a banana republic once again. We already are the greenist country on Earth with a target to reduce our emissions by 80%. Tourists don't come to see wind farms and big holes

So now it has been made law, a gutless attempt to redistribute wealth that will do nothing to stem carbon emissions

If that is their goal (and I agree) in environmental legislation then what makes you think it's not their goal in other public policy initiatives ?

Did I ever suggest a socialist paradise wasn't their ultimate goal.

If that is their goal (and I agree)
Now Tom what is you agree with? Their goal or the fact that they have a goal?

The mining tax is a deliberate attempt to redistribute wealth to their base and buy votes and this is too as well as buying the support of the Greens. People are not fools yet Labor always falls into the trap of thinking their largess ensures success, instead we have seen recent instances of abject failure which pushed the little red fox to the lowest level of public support of any leader

Carbon emissions is a scam... the biggest emitters are politicians. Between Co2 and methane production... by their own standards they are walking environmental disasters.

Hi smoothy I wasn't aware hot air is a pollutant, well, maybe in the US, everything is a pollutant over there. We even have our politicians telling us CO2 is a pollutant, following your lead, of course, and us needing all the green grass we can get. They don't call this the brown land for nothing.

Yes our arty, farty politicians are great pollutants and they even make the place look untidy, what with their disinformation campaigns deluging us with tons of paper "informing us" of their largess, and the NBN digging holes all over the place, as well as the little red fox, who has dreadful dress sense, we are forever asking; what is that she is wearing? Visual pollution at its worst and that shrill grating voice ensures every appearance on TV is immediately turned off

But back to your statement. Scam it is, invented by Margaret Thatcher to get nuclear power approved, global warming and CO2 emissions must be the most successful piece of poli speak ever
