Trump is taking on the Houthis in more ways than just cutting off their funding. The Houthis are terrorist pirates . The US first war was against such piracy.

The US has always had a policy of free navigation of the seas and have when necessary used it's muscle to enforce it.
Since the Gaza war ,the Houthis have supported Hamas by attacking shipping in the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea ;both choke points in the shipping of commercial products .

The US Navy came under direct attack in that time . They have had to use more defensive weapons than they have in 30 years

Clueless Joe took a minimalist response to their attacks while not redesignating them a terrorist organization and certainly not freezing funding from either USAID OR Iran.

Trump is also tying to get Iran to the negotiating table about their nuke program indicating that their time is running out for a deal . These miliary responses may be a bargaining chip. But hopefully he is serious about eliminating the Houthis threat.

This should also end all the BS claims that Trump is some kind of isolationist . He proved in his first term that he is more than willing to flex US muscle when needed .

BTW the major benefactor of Trump's attacks on the pirates is the EU where 30% of their container traffic pass through the Suez Canal .
