I'm not sure if any Americans or people in other countries get the Canadian version of Idol, but it starts this week on CTV and if anyone is interested in discussing it, I thought I'd start this thread. I enjoy it for the most part, except that I can't stand the host, Ben Mulroney! He is the son of former prime minister Brian Mulroney, and personally I think that's the only reason he's on TV at all... nepotism at it's finest! ;)

In any case, I will likely be watching the show. One year a girl from my hometown was the runner-up, and last year a guy I knew from university was in the top 12! All talented people.

Well I watched it last week, was pretty interesting. The auditions are always my favorite part, and there were some really strange ducks as well as some really talented people. I'll probably watch it again this week. If anyone else is following it, please post in here! This thread is lonely. :(

I watch it too! That and Last Comic Standing. As for the Idol auditions I'm always amazed that every flamboyant homosexual male seems to believe that he's a talented singing star when 99% of the time they are a talentless laughing stock - good fun for us. Hehe.

Thanks so much for posting in this thread! I was starting to think I was the only one who watched this show!!

I like Last Comic Standing, too! It's not on again yet, is it? I haven't seen it in the schedule lately.

Yeah it's weird how disillusioned people are... I mean on the one hand it's great that they have so much confidence in their abilities, but haven't they ever heard themselves sing on tape?? :rolleyes: And what I really don't get is when friends and family say they are great, too. I can see being a bit gentler on people you love, but I think if I started singing around here, my whole family would tell me to shut up! :p

Well, this week Zach Warner (I think that's his name) pitched a garbage can at a contestant's head while they were singing! And everyone thinks Simon Cowell is bad!! :eek:

Actually I thought that was sooo immature and distasteful! I mean he is likely getting paid a LOT to listen to auditions... so he should control himself and act his age. In the States he probably would have gotten sued for that! :p

Not to mention my kids like watching the show, and it's a bad example!
