When a person violates parole, do they usually get jailtime?
A family member has a drug problem, he has been shoplifting and caught several times for driving without insurance, etc (misdemeanors). It seems like the court system just keeps putting him back into the community, and now he will not work. Finally his children were taken from the home, and Now he has been picked up for parole violation. He needs rehab or either jail time or both, either would probably save his life.(I suspect he is on Meth), And I'm thinking, that if u are declared indigent, the state of Ky may pay for one month of rehab, but a month is not enough.. Trust me, He is not the person he once was, and I think he will never be the same, even if he quits. He is looking at 4 yrs, and I think that is a bit harsh, but I'm just hoping he gets some jail-time.. Hate to say it, but it is-what it is, and that METH is some bad stuff.. *He has done some things , that even I cannot believe, just for drugs.. Very Sad.. so do people usually get time when they break probation and will the state pay for a certain amount of rehab for an offender?

    Hello p:

Jail is NOT a good place to treat addiction... Second, you call it parole and then you call it probation.. They're NOT the same thing. If you want legal advice, leave your moralizing OUT and tell me the FACTS.

OK, I stand corrected , it is a probation violation. He is now going to court on the charge that first landed him on probation, Promotion contraband 1st degree, trying to smuggle drugs into the jail. His PO has recommended a year in a drug rehab , which is what he needs, however on the other hand, I was told that the state will not pay for it for one year.

I realize jail is not a good place to treat an addiction, but better than death. His mom would rather have him in jail, than on the streets, because he will not stay clean, and he continues to steal and shoplift to feed his habit.
