What will happen if I can't make my federal restitution payments?
I have been off probation for several years and have made payments here and there. I am currently unemployed and looking for a job. I am unable to make the payments. Can they take my or my husband's tax returns? We don't own any property so I am not worried about that. What will they do if the payments stop? I have heard conflicting information on this. The restitution myself and my co-defendant owe is a small amount, but I still cannot make the payments. Any advice will be appreciated.
