    I think that would depend on the circumstances, because it would be kind of hard to prove if something happened and you didn't report it right away. Do you have proof? Did you make a report? Why was there a time of waiting that you would be concerned about the statutes of limitations?

    First it is from the time of the event to the time charged, if already charged the time stops.

    It will vary greatly by state first, and then by what level of assult and crime it was.
