    What does this mean?
    My son was arrested for 3 rd degree grand theft auto what does the 3rd degree mean? And how long do you think he will go to jail for if guilty

    Third degree meaning the worst possible, meaning he succeeded in this criminal act. Then depending on the state your in he could go for 5-7 years in prison. If you have anymore questions please let me know.

    The degree referes to the specific state law your state has, it varies from state to state, prior crimes, and even if the judge is having a good day.
    Getting them the best attorney possible is what you need to do

    Please post your source. We take pride in the correctness of our answers and in every State I know FIRST DEGREE is the worst. I also don't know how you can say he will get 5-7 years when you have no idea what State the OP is in.

    Your answer is one of the reasons I don't think 16 year olds should post on an adult board, let alone a legal board.

    So, yes, those are the questions I have for you.
