What can happen in this order of Protection case?
Hello. Have a quick question. A good male friend of mine is being accused of breaking out windows on someone's property. He was not arrested, there is no proof, but-an order of protection has been filed against him. It was served to his parents' house, who live in Illinois (we are in MO). So my questions are:

1.-What are the possible outcomes of this?
2.-Does he even have to appear in court for the order of protection even if he wasn't directly served?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks so much.

If it was served to his legal address, ( and it is obvious he is aware of the notice) he needs to appear.

Either a order of protectoin will be issues or it will not be issued.

Thanks for your input. But, doesn't the document have to be directly served to him? I did not know other people could sign off on something like this-and it be valid.

    Thanks again!

Not all service has to be in hand, many legal service merely has to be attached to the door of the persons last known legal residence.

And some are allowed after so many attempts to do personal service.

And emergancy protection orders can be issued with no service what so ever.

If you don't show up, they will still hold court and just issue it by default if you don't show up.
