Wage Garnishment from Humboldt traffic ticket/how to stop it
    Hello All:

In 2001 I received a ticket for driving w/o a license, no insurance and driving an unregistered vehicle. After several months the Humboldt County Court began to garnish my wages until the fine was completely paid. Thank God. Since everything was taken care of I was cleared to get my drivers license. I did get it. Now, some 8 years later Humboldt County is once again garnishing my wages for the same ticket!!

As I stated, I completely paid it off (that is why I was able to get my license again). When I called them to discuss the matter they admitted it could possibly be a mistake since they had moved building a few years ago. They asked me to send documentation I had paid them. Well, problem is, it's been so long, I no longer have any of the paperwork or evidence of payment. Conventional wisdom says to hold on to this type of thing for 3 years... it's been about 8 years since everything was cleared!!

    (1) How do I prove I paid them in full if I do not have any records AND they say I did not pay anything!! [logic would tell them I paid since I was able to get my Driver's License, right]

    (2) What legal paperwork or petitions can I file since they are garnishing my wages on something I have already paid for? THEY MUST have some paper trail... even with the move.

WHAT DO I DO?? PLEASE HELP!! I live in San Diego and this happened in Humboldt County.

Someone told DMV to give you back your license. Ask DMV.

Check with the company you worked for at that time and see if they have records
