Typical price to file a motion to change probation terms, and does this seem right?
I was charged with a minor misdemeanor of the lowest (4th) degree in Ohio for Disorderly Conduct. I have paid my fines, and met all requirements but I am still on reporting or "formal" probation. To tell you the truth I had no idea that I was on reporting probation until I met my PO after court. (I am almost sure the judge didn't say "reporting") Anyway, this is a 6 month deal, but I am hoping to change this to either non-reporting or terminated altogether. My reason is that I work "flex" hours during the summer, where I can work extra hours Monday-Thursday at the office and on Friday I can leave earl (1pm). This has been OK for now because I use that extra time during my usual 9-5 work hours and meet my PO by 2pm every other Friday (twice a month!). I almost feel like this reporting probation is a mistake to begin with, but I guess I should have paid for a lawyer. I don't remember hearing the judge say "reporting", only that I owed such and such in fines and court costs. Anyway, sorry this is so long, but I am hoping to find out (1) If I can look back and see if I am actually supposed to be on reporting probation. Note: I do not have the court papers, nor did I read through them. I just handed them over to the public defender where he said he would take care of them (2) How much it would cost to hire a lawyer to file a motion to try and make this either non-reporting or terminated. Note that I have served half of my time, summer is ending (flex hours are gone), and I can't keep this schedule up without serious consequences at work. With a mortgage pmt, car pmt, etc, one little mm4-Disorderly Conduct could really turn into something very nasty.

I really appreciate any help and advice from anyone! Thank You.

Why don't you ask your PO
IF they can get a copy of your papers to you.
IF there is any hours you can report that are not during your work schedule or request to leave an hour or so early when you have to report.
PO's are generally a bit cooperative with some things.
You said you have 6 months of reporting and it shounds like you already did at least 2 or 3
By the time you were to go back to court to get it changed I think it would take more time and trouble than getting some time off a month to report to your PO

You can go to the Criminal Courts Clerk and request a copy of your Final Disposition paperwork. Each page is about 25 cents copying charge. On the probation part of the sentencing it may or may not state reporting. This is public information available to anyone who goes to the Clerk's office.

Ask your PO if they can help you with your reporting for the final 3 months. You may try getting to their office first thing in the AM. If I am correct most probation offices open their doors at 8AM. I am not aware of any set time you have to be there - just a set day you have to report. This is only twice a month. I'm sure you could get there at 8AM and be at work by 9AM if you hustle.
