    Hello l:

You can have a computer and can't be punished for it. If you want to offer your roommate SOME protection, lock it away from him and make sure he doesn't have access to the keys.. The probation officer still may NOT accept those arrangements, but that's not YOUR problem.

Printed rules? You don't need no stinking printed rules!

You have done nothing wrong. You have the God-given right to possess a computer or anything else which is legal for the rest of us law-abiding citizens (i.e.: everyone but criminals on probation) to own.

If you choose to go before the judge (You don't have to unless you are subpoenaed or ordered to), tell the judge that you choose not to get rid of the computer, and that if the judge wants to order the room-mate to live somewhere else, that's up to the judge.
