Are online anger management classes legit?
Are online anger management classes/courses accepted by a court?

The court paper says, 'participate in counseling or anger management'. It doesn't give any specifics like how many hours or anything at all whatsoever.

This is all the information I have, I am asking on behalf of a friend, they said the judge didn't say anyhting other than what was written either. This is NY state.

Basically, are these websites offering classes a complete scam and completely unrecognized or are they acceptable?

    Thanks.

There are good and bad "anything" on line.
While the judge may not have "said" please check with the clerk of the court on what classes are approved. To my knowledge each county and/or state has licensed and approved programs that are certified and approved by certain courts. So I will almost bet the clerk of the court has a list of approved classes. Also I bet if you check with local in person classes, they will say or state they are approved by the local courts.

Anger managememt needs real life and personal group or private counseling, not online.

This is the answer: ASK your local court. My friend asked his local court, and they said it was OK to take any online course. ASK first and don't assume. You may waste your money on an online course if it's not applicable to your situation. Online courses are not exactly regulated and niether are al in-person classes, but if your judge says it's either OK or not OK, that's all that matters. From what I have gathered, there is no national or state standard in anger management courses, so ASK first what your judge wants to see.
