    License reinstament issue!
    Hello Everybody,

I received a speeding ticket last October/08 in the City of Quartzsite,AZ while driving to California. I had my AZ license since 2002 when I moved to Tucson,AZ where I live and that was the very first ticket I got in my life. I went to court a month later to fight the ticket since the officer that pull me over said I was doing 97 in the freeway, when in fact I was doing 82 since I have a habit of always keeping my eye on the speedometer, I went to court a second time to delegate with the DA and she was kind enough to reduce the speed limit to 85 since she told me the officer sent her the report of the radar gun that read 97, but since she knew it was my first ticket, she gave me a break and reduce the amount that I had to pay. When I left the court they gave me a few weeks to pay off the ticket that was settle for $180.00, but unfortunately to financial problems I could not make the payment and in top of that I lost my job and so did my wife. Recently we both began working again and all of our paychecks went to pay other bills we were really behind with and now last week I received a letter from the court of Quartzsite saying that now I owe $347.48 for that violation, I'm guessing it went up because I never pay the $180.00 that I agree to with the DA. On the letter it states that I have 30 days to pay the full balance, the letter had a notice date of 05/04/09 which gives me until 06/03/09 to pay off the ticket. When I received the letter I went to the DMV's website to update my address on my license and was not able to do it since it gave me a message that my license was suspended from not paying that ticket. Since that day I had my wife drive me to work and back since I do not want to get caught driving with a suspended license because it would make matters worst, I will pay off the entire balance, but I have to wait until my next paycheck which is on 05/29/09. What I would like to know is, will my license be reinstated right away or is there a reinstament fee? If so how much would that be and after paying that as well, how soon will my license be valid? I really hope I don't have to go to court for this since Quartzsite is 4 hrs from Tucson. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and please keep in mind this is my first ticket ever(I don't know if it makes any difference, I hope it does)

    Sincerely,

    Rudy1976.

PD: After I pay off my ticket, how would I know if my license is reinstated or if I have to pay a reinstement fee? Thank you, once again.

You will "most likely" have to apply to have your license re-instated

You should contact the DA and see if there is anything you can work out with them

    Hello R:

After you pay the ticket, I'll bet you're going to have to take proof of that to the DMV. I don't know if there's one near where you're going to pay the ticket. I also don't know if they charge a fee, but if they do, it ain't much.
