    Leaving the country, probation
My boyfriend recently got out of jail for two incidents of driving without a licence and a warrant, which he paid by the way but the courty conveniently "lost the records". When he went to court the judge waived all fines and penalties and dropped everything from his record. The judge said that he served way too much time for what he did, but put him on probation, his probation is that he is not allowed to be caught driving without a licence or without valid insurance. We are going on a cruise to Mexico on Dec 1 of this year. My question is will he be able to leave the country? Thank you.

    Hello Melissa:

When he was put on probation, the court gave him its ruling in writing. His probation requirements are on that ruling. If he is on supervised probation, ask his probation officer. Without knowing what the judge restricted him to, it's impossible to answer your question.

What part of not leaving the state does people not understand. If people just go to their PO & you have a good reason the PO will give you a travel pass. I have to take a girl out of state that is on probation and she got a travel pass. If you are honest & have a good reason for leaving then I don't think you should have a problem. Be honest with your PO & inform her/him of your situation. Some probation officers are cool & some can be an ***, but honesty is the best policy either way.

I know you want to be helpful, but did you notice this question is from 2006? Try to watch the age of the post next time when answering a question.
