Well you don't need one of those "ID things like a passport" you need a real passport, have you applied for one, here it takes almost 3 weeks just to get an appointment at the post office to even fill it out and it is taking about 4 to 6 weeks to get it back.

Without knowing the exact felony, murder most certainly could cause an issue. But it is not likely most that are 20 year old should

It is at the discretion of the authorities - it's on a case by case basis. Canadian law can and often does prevent ANYONE with a felony conviction from entering.

And, yes, you need a passport or an enhanced driver's license.

Thanks for the replies. I already applied for a passport card. Now I guess I just have to try going there, all they will do is turn me around I guess. And the felony was a minor theft charge I pleaded guilty to, to get it over with in court.

A passport card? Do you mean you applied for a passport? That doesn't require a background check.

I've never seen a minor felony charge but, again, it's at the whim of the Government on the day you attempt to cross.
