How do I get around the statue of limitations in Canada?
Police , CAS and MDs knew I was a victim of domestic violence.

My ex tried to kill me.

The authorities listed did not investigate properly. They admitted to that. I suffered PTS for years. My ex took my younger 2 children and were allowed to keep them in "Interim, interim" custody. I had no strengh to carry onto fight.

My mental and physical state were so far eroded I left the country and took a job in Geneva and worked for the world's biggest NGO as their UN delegate. A few years ago I completely crashed with the effects of PTS and an abusive boss who I took to court and won.

Not before going on medication finally from a doctor here in the UK, did he see I was suffering like a soldier who had come back from war.

I have been working at an embassy here in London UK but have always struggled to maintain work and still suffer the effects of all those years of abuse and not seeingmy children. I am now looking to write a book about what happened to me in Canada, my journey meeting G7 leaders and the new breed of DV we are importing with immigrants coming in flocks from the middle east and Pakistan.

I know of the resolutions, laws mandates and commitments Canada has made at the UN, etc. and yet this happened to me by those in authority who did not do their job.

I want to go to court, how do I get around the statue of limitations? I need compensation for all that has happened and the massive amount of suffering I have been through.

ie; On may 22, 2002 my ex tried to kill me and the police in Ontario have confirmed they did not investigate properly.

How do I also get the legal help I need? If I have to, I'll do it myself again as I did before. I have the will to beat this, for my children's sake and for the women coming to Canada.

    Thank you

    Hello Judith:

How do you get the legal help you need?? If you have the money, it's EASY. I suspect you're asking, because you DON'T have any money... So, it's my view, that you won't find a lawyer willing to GIVE you his services. I say that, not because I don't think you've been damaged. I think you have... I say it because I don't think you can WIN a case against some unnamed authorities.. Your case has MAJOR problems, not the least of which is the statute of limitations have expired...

But, you're NOT without resources.. I'd write the book. Not only will it expose those who hurt you, but it'll make you some money. Yes, it'll also warn the women you want to warn.

You hire very good attorneys who will look to see if they can perhaps or attach a on going crime since he used this to keep the children.

You file for various rights to the children ( if still minors)

But if the police did not investigate well, that still does not help , since you will need evidence to use to sue.

It sounds more like you need to stop looking back, but start moving forward. And making better chocies, you seem to find or make yourself the victim somehow in your relationships.

    Hi Excon,

Thanks for the insight. In a democracy like Canada there has to be a loop hole somewhere for justice. It is just not right that women in the great country of Canada, who makes such big claims of empowerment and protection of women at the UN in Geneva, must suffer like I did. I will write my book and then go back to Canada looking for justice.

I have even thought of taking my country to court. Canada takes the lead at sponsoring the redrafting of the resolution for "Violence against Women " at the UN. It is such hypocrisy.

I know I will find a lawyer somewhere after I write my book in the course of the next few months. I have spoken to a awyer who said there are ways to get around the statue.
    Thanks for the help.
